What will I do?

The Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) Law Mentoring Program is a student-led mentoring program that partners 1st and 2nd year Indigenous law students (mentees) with 3rd and 4th year law students (mentors).

Mentees engage in the program over an 8-week period, with aims to further develop an understanding of course expectations, best practice study strategies, employability skills, networking and industry awareness. The objectives of the program are to give students the opportunity to demonstrate and apply experiential learning to achieve academic success and an increased readiness to enter the workforce through development of a mentor relationship.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a deeper understanding of course expectations
  • Gain best practice study strategies and advice to academic advice
  • Set career goals, and develop an increased readiness to enter the workforce after you've graduated
  • Develop professional networks, improve communication skills and build confidence

Are there any special requirements for this role?

Applicants must be 1st or 2nd year Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander law student.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

You must commit to 8 hours across the semester.
