What will I do?

The Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) Nursing Mentoring Program is a student-led mentoring program that partners 1st year Indigenous nursing students (mentees) with 2nd and 3rd year nursing students (mentors).

Mentees engage in the program over an 8-week period, with aims to further develop an understanding of course expectations, best practice study strategies, employability skills, networking and industry awareness. The objectives of the program give students the opportunity to demonstrate and apply experiential learning to achieve academic success and an increased readiness to enter the workforce through development of a mentor relationship.

  • Set career goals, and develop an increased readiness to enter the workforce after you've graduated
  • Develop professional networks, improve communication skills and build confidence

Are there any special requirements for this role?

Applicants must be a 1st year Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander nursing student.


Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition

You must commit to 8 hours across the semester.
