What will I do?
The Woolyungah Indigenous Centre (WIC) Nursing Mentoring Program is a student-led mentoring program that partners 1st year Indigenous nursing students (mentees) with 2nd and 3rd year nursing students (mentors).
Mentors engage in the program over an 8-week period, with aims to assist mentees in further developing their understanding of course expectations, best practice study strategies, employability skills, networking and industry awareness. The objectives of the program give students the opportunity to demonstrate and apply experiential learning to assist mentees in achieving academic success and an increased readiness to enter the workforce through development of a mentor relationship.
How will I benefit?
You will have the opportunity to:
- Develop professional mentoring skills through providing ongoing mentoring to 1st and 2nd year Indigenous law students
- Experience mentoring in a cross-cultural setting, working directly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and staff
- Improve communication skills and build confidence

Are there any special requirements for this role?
Applicants must be 2nd or 3rd year Nursing students.
Minimum requirements for UOWx recognition
You must commit to 8 hours across the semester.
