Located just across the road from the main UOW campus and walking distance to the free Wollongong Shuttle bus, Bangalay offers 5 visitor and 1 guest apartment in which all rooms house a maximum of 2 guests.

All are located in a separate area from the student accommodation. Guests have full use of the modern and spacious Opal Lounge, which houses a fully equipped kitchen, lounge, dining area, TV and air conditioning. Study pods are also located in the opal lounge creating a quiet space from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm.

Important Information

Full payment must be made at the time of booking.

A full refund is available if you advise of your cancellation in writing to bangalay@uow.edu.au by 2pm the day prior to the start of your booking.

Cancellations made after 2pm on the day prior to your booking start date will incur a cancellation fee equivalent to one nights’ accommodation fee.

  • Communal kitchen and lounge with fridge, freezer, oven, microwaves 
  • Laundry with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing boards 
  • Outdoor clothesline 

Although we offer accommodation to external guests that aren't students, our residences are slightly different to hotel accommodation. We don't offer room service or wake up calls, but all bedding and linen is provided (cost is included in room price).

Access to the main buildings, communal spaces and rooms is only available when using an individually coded fob-key. Every unit and apartment can only be accessed by the resident or residents living there, using their individual fob-key, and every bedroom in shared units has a coded door lock, that can only be opened by the key-holder.  

Bangalay is located on Northfields Avenue, Gwynneville (view on UOW campus map). 

Bangalay offers you easy access to campus and all of its offerings including:  

  • UOW’s learning facilities such as lecture halls, tutorial rooms and the library.  
  • The heated swimming pool, health and fitness centre, beautiful university grounds as well as the UniBar and cafes to enjoy.  
  • The UOW free shuttle bus that will take you to the city, the beach, the train station and other UOW campuses.  
  • The relaxing Wollongong Botanic Gardens which next to the residence.
