Overview

A creative arts degree immerses you in the creative industries and challenges you to think deeply and broadly about the changing world and the role the arts play within it.

Throughout the degree you will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a leading creative profession in your chosen field. Specialise in creative writing, music, theatre studies, visual arts or visual arts and design.

In the final year of your degree, you will work on a major creative project with the goal of submitting it for professional publication, exhibition or presentation. Various artist and writer-in-residence programs take place throughout your degree, and you will be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities.

Visual Arts and Design (major)

The visual arts and design major is tailored for individuals fuelled by a passion for both art and graphic design.

Throughout this major, you will have an opportunity to specialise in a range of visual art disciplines: painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, photography, and installation art. Explore contemporary design practice, covering visual communication design, client-based projects, and interface design.

The major provides ample studio time for hands-on creative explorations, underpinned by art and design histories and theories, ensuring you acquire essential creative and critical skills crucial for thriving in the contemporary arts and creative industries.

The culmination of your academic journey is marked by a capstone project-based subject, providing you with the unique opportunity to seamlessly integrate both fields of study.

You will forge connections with exceptional artists and designers actively shaping their fields and you will be equipped to navigate the multifaceted demands of the real world, ready to make a meaningful impact in your chosen field.
