If you’re planning to study at UOW immediately after finishing your HSC, International Baccalaureate (IB), or an interstate equivalent, you can apply for Early Admission to this course. Applications can be submitted via the UOW Early Admission website during the designated period, usually June – August each year.

Students can also apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).

If you’re a non-school leaver (e.g., completed Year 12 previously and/or have a TAFE qualification or equivalent), you can apply directly to UOW.

Overview

Psychological skills help you to understand how people think, feel, act, change and how this impacts behaviour. These skills are highly transferrable to the business sphere where having a deep understanding of customers’ needs and behaviours is key to success.

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is a four-year degree providing comprehensive training in the scientific study of human behaviour and experience. The degree contains a significant research thesis where you will learn how the science and practice of psychology is influenced by a variety of contexts, and knowledge of ethical behaviour.

Throughout the Bachelor of Business, you will gain practical, real-world experience and make professional connections. You will develop core skills across all business functions, as you build specialist knowledge in a chosen field to excel in today's dynamic and complex business environment.

The study of psychology and business will allow you to better understand consumer and employee behaviour and utilise this knowledge to help influence decision-making and purchasing behaviours. Combining the study of human behaviour with business will help you to improve productivity, decision-making practices and workplace cultures. Studying psychology with business is ideal for those seeking a career in Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, or dispute mediation. This would also be suited to those seeking a career in organisational or workplace psychology, business development, management consultancy and business coaching.

Accreditation & professional recognition

For the Bachelor of Psychology (Honours)

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and is required to apply for provisional registration as a psychologist in Australia. An additional two years of education and training is necessary to apply for general registration. This can be through a fifth year at University plus one year of supervised practice in the community or an approved postgraduate degree accredited at the fifth and sixth year level. Applicants must achieve the required score in a previous qualification, equivalent to completing at least 13 years of schooling in Australia.

Workload
Full-Time Study Load

As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study. You may need to factor more time for examination study and practical work & placements.

Credit for Prior Learning
- Graduates looking to progress to the Master of Business Administration will receive up to 30 credit points credit into the MBA program, if they meet the appropriate work experience entry requirements.
If you have completed prior studies or relevant professional experience, you can request course credit or subject exemptions to reduce the duration and cost of your program.

Credit for prior learning evaluates your previous study or work experience related to your chosen subjects.
