Overview

The Diploma of Information Technology provides guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Business Information Systems or Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW).

You will gain the skills to succeed in your UOW bachelor and explore various disciplines including programming, systems analysis, networks and web technologies. You will also graduate with a Higher Education Diploma to help get you into the workforce while completing your bachelor's degree.

This course consists of three sessions, each lasting 14 weeks, and is offered by our pathway provider, UOW College Australia. See the course outline for more information.

Bachelor of Computer Science - entry into second year (8 subjects, 48 credit points)

Bachelor of Information Technology - entry into second year (8 subjects, 48 credit points)

Bachelor of Technology* - entry into first year (3 subjects, 18 credit points)

*Year 12 HSC Mathematics Advanced ≥ 50% (or equivalent) is a mandatory subject requirement for applicants seeking a progressive offer from this course to the Bachelor of Technology.

  • Academic Entry Requirements

    Minimum ATAR 35 or equivalent

    The UOW country equivalency webpage will help you convert international qualifications to Australian qualifications and explain the required grades/scores needed to be eligible for entry into UOW and UOW College programs.

  • English Language Requirements

    Overall IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with 5.0 in Reading and Writing or equivalent

    The UOW English equivalent webpage details alternative English language tests including TOEFL, Pearsons and Cambridge. Students may be considered as meeting the English language requirements if successfully completing two years of secondary or tertiary study at an approved institution where the language of instruction was English; and was in a country where the official language is English.

  • Workload

    As a guide, the workload for your course is determined by the number of subjects you take each session. Four subjects in a standard session is considered to be a full-time load and generally equivalent to working full-time e.g. 35-45 hours a week (including preparation, revision and assessment tasks undertaken in your own time, in addition to the scheduled classes you must attend).
