Overview

The Diploma of Science Fast Track provides guaranteed* entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Science or first year of a Bachelor of Marine Science at the University of Wollongong (UOW).

You will gain the skills to succeed in your UOW bachelor and explore various concepts and skills in a variety of fundamental science disciplines. You will also graduate with a Higher Education Diploma to help get you into the workforce while completing your bachelor's degree.

This course consists of two sessions, each lasting 14 weeks, and is offered by our pathway provider, UOW College Australia. See the course outline for more information.

  • Academic Entry Requirements

    Minimum ATAR 60 or equivalent

    Assumed knowledge and recommended study

    Year 12 HSC Mathematics Advanced (any result) OR Year 12 HSC Mathematics Standard 2 ≥80%.

    The UOW country equivalency webpage will help you convert international qualifications to Australian qualifications and explain the required grades/scores needed to be eligible for entry into UOW and UOW College programs.

  • English Language Requirements

    Overall IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with 6.0 in Reading and Writing or equivalent.

    The UOW English equivalent webpage details alternative English language tests including TOEFL, Pearsons and Cambridge. Students may be considered as meeting the English language requirements if successfully completing two years of secondary or tertiary study at an approved institution where the language of instruction was English; and was in a country where the official language is English.

  • Workload

    As a guide, the workload for your course is determined by the number of subjects you take each session. Four subjects in a standard session is considered to be a full-time load and generally equivalent to working full-time e.g. 35-45 hours a week (including preparation, revision and assessment tasks undertaken in your own time, in addition to the scheduled classes you must attend).
