Overview

Developed in collaboration with the Medical Imaging Service of Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD), NSW Health, and the University of Wollongong, you will learn to develop strategies for dealing with large volumes of medical imaging data collected through medical imaging technologies. Through this course you will gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become an effective leader in data analytics for this profession.

During the course, you will study four core subjects:

  • Essential techniques and tools for applied analytics
  • Introducing medical imaging data for applied analytics
  • Investigative and diagnostic data analytics for medical imaging
  • Prescriptive and predictive analytics for medical imaging
  • This specialist degree introduces and develops real world, authentic and experiential learning. You will examine and gain statistical knowledge using visual analytics technologies specifically designed for applied medical imaging data analytics. Students will construct medical imaging data analysis reports related to big data medical imaging problems as they would in real-world medical environments and facilities.

Successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Analytics of Medical Imaging Data provides a pathway to the Master of Business Analytics, with credit for three subjects completed during the graduate certificate. Progression to other master’s programs, including the MBA, may be possible with some credit.

A Bachelor of Medical Science or Bachelor of Radiology with an equivalent average mark of 50%.

A relevant tertiary academic qualification with a duration of at least three years of equivalent full-time study, plus three years of full-time equivalent professional work experience, may also be considered.

Other tertiary qualifications combined with at least five years of relevant full-time professional work experience will be considered.

  • Workload

    Full-Time Study Load

    As a full-time student, you can expect to commit around 48 hours of study per week. This includes class time and independent study. You may need to factor more time for examination study and practical work & placements.
