Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students
All initial teacher education students must pass the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) before they can commence their final professional experience. This is a NSW Government mandated requirement.
Changes due to COVID-19
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many things regarding the LANTITE have changed.
More information is available on the official COVID-19 (Coronavirus) advice - LANTITE page.
When to take the Test
From 2024, students who are required to sit the test will need to have a test attempt (but do not have to meet the test standard) in their first year of an accredited ITE course. For further information, please visit the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership Limited (AITSL) website.
The School of Education recommends taking the Test:
Course | Recommendation |
---|---|
Bachelor of Primary Education | Spring Session in 1st year |
Bachelor of Mathematics Education | Spring Session in 1st year |
Bachelor of Health and Physical Education | Spring Session in 1st year |
Bachelor of Science Education | Spring Session in 1st year |
Master of Teaching | Spring Session in 1st year |
Students should take the test early to ensure it is completed well before their final professional experience.
