Research

Researchers in the School of the Arts, English and Media achieved 4-ratings (‘above world-class’) in Creative and Performing Arts and Literary Studies research in the 2018 Excellence Research Australia assessment. Our researchers continue to lead National Competitive Research Grants in the fields of Communication, Literary Studies, and the Creative Arts

The School combines creative practice-based research, traditional scholarly methods, and interdisciplinary collaboration, contributing to  real-world solutions to global social and environmental challenges.

We are driven by a passion for understanding the complexities of our changing world at the intersections of creative arts, literary studies, communication, and media. Our research has a broad audience base with reach beyond academia to local, national and international communities.

We engage with the National Cultural Policy, industry partners, creative leaders, and communities to reframe critical issues, expand perspectives, and re-imagine shared futures.

The Centre for Critical Creative Practice (C3P)

C3P is an interdisciplinary home for research addressing key issues of our time, using creative practice and critical frameworks to raise questions about the influence of digital and screen media on culture, ways the humanities can respond to global, political and environmental change, and the impacts art and writing can have in the 21st century.
