Wollongong
The University of Wollongong is a young University but has already built an international reputation for world-class research and exceptional teaching quality. We’re ranked in the top 250 universities in the world and we’re aiming higher every day.
UOW has a strong international focus and reputation, with close to 6,000 international students studying across its Australian campuses each year and a global network of campuses. UOW Dubai celebrated 25 years of academic excellence in 2018 and is one of the United Arab Emirates’ oldest and most prestigious universities. Continuing its global expansion, UOW established UOW College Hong Kong (formerly Community College of City University) in 2017 and in 2018 acquired the university colleges of Malaysian private education provider KDU, establishing University of Wollongong Malaysia.
Between the Mountains and the Sea
Situated on one of Australia’s most picturesque coastlines, the city of Wollongong is encircled by magnificent natural beauty, from the Royal National Park in the north, Lake Illawarra to the South, the shores of the Pacific Ocean to the east and the spectacular rocky Illawarra Escarpment to the west.
The third largest city in New South Wales, Wollongong is a vibrant and multicultural city, steeped in its Aboriginal cultural heritage.
Referred to affectionately as ‘the Gong’, and perhaps best known historically for its manufacturing economy, driven through coal mining and steel making; new age economies including education and IT have emerged as two of the region’s transformative industries of the future.
