Honorary Professor Ray Chambers asked to continue as member of Istat Methodology Advisory Committee

NIASRA’s Honorary Professor Ray Chambers has been asked to continue his participation as a member of the Methodology Advisory Committee at the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat), for another three years.

The new Committee will have a similar composition of the previous one and the members will be appointed for a period of three years. Membership is by invitation from the President of Istat; all invited experts are proposed on the basis of their professional qualifications. A plenary session of the Committee will take place twice a year.

The main purpose of the Methodology Advisory Committee is to provide advice to Istat’s management on the direction of strategic developments in the Modernisation Program, ensuring that projects issued meet standard quality requirements and agreed methods and tools are consistent with European and international best practices.

The Committee is serviced by Istat but is independent in its judgements and recommendations. The mandate of the Committee is to formally advise Istat’s Board of Directors.
